Committed
to the health of your feet, podiatric medicine focuses on diagnosing,
treating, and preventing foot and ankle problems, such as incorrect
foot biomechanics.
Your
podiatric physician (podiatrist) is highly trained through years
of study and clinical practice, including a bachelor's degree
program and four years of podiatric medical school.
In addition, most podiatric physicians have from one to four years
of specialized residency, training at a hospital in foot and ankle
surgery.
Once
in practice, podiatric physicians continue to stay informed about
the latest research and developments in the field by taking continuing
medical education courses that are required to maintain their
license.
